For most, a term abroad is a tremendous opportunity to explore the world, get immersed in a different culture, and then come home to bring it up as much as humanly possible. For Hunter Thomson, however, it was a living nightmare after the biggest mix-up of his life. Expecting an opportunity to ogle at “babes,” he was met with lectures and exams at the University of Paris.
“I am a victim of blatant misdirection and false advertising,” remarked Thomson as he picked at his charcuterie board and drank chardonnay. “I just hope others don’t endure this cruelty like I have.” Despite his efforts to continue to pursue his passion despite this setback, he has faced even more hurdles, being labelled as a “freak” and a “disgusting weirdo” and “not allowed in that washroom” by locals.
Rather than take the opportunity to advance his degree in Women’s Studies (another mix-up), Thomson has decided to skip his classes in protest and bravely sulk in his room overlooking the Rue de l'Abreuvoir with a promise: “Mark my words, I will receive justice and a broad will be studied.”
