Tomorrow, history will be made, regardless of the American election’s results. For some Canadians, this matters very little, as they are relatively unaffected by American policy. However, certain Canadians, particularly those interested in history and politics, have expressed great amounts of excitement and fear for the election results.
One student in particular, Sammy Adams, a self proclaimed “fan” of the War of 1812, is hopeful that the election will go in a certain direction.
We spoke with Adams this past weekend, who stated:
“Look, I’m a simple woman. I love being Canadian, but I also love winning. Unless it’s women’s swimming at the Paris Olympics, or the War of 1812, Canada doesn’t do a ton of winning. Plain and simple.”
Adams refused to endorse a particular candidate, out of fear of cancellation, but noted that she was hoping it would go “the fun way”.
She went on to discuss what this meant:
“I’m not going to say that I want to start a war with the United States, but I don’t see what harm would come from a little conflict between the two of us. I just think it could be exciting for everyone, and maybe we could see another win. I’m just hoping for a candidate that will mix things up a bit, if you know what I’m saying.”
